Xmas e-Cards

Friday, December 28th, 2007

From BannerBlog, a whole pile of e-Cards sent by ad agencies. You don’t have time for this. Unless you’re working on a phD in indulgent use of Flash animation. *Loading….*

This one from Wieden + Kennedy was pretty. One Australian agency featured: George Patterson’s Advertising Monkey. Oh – my favourite Christmas Greeting: Go Jesus. It’s your birthday. And here’s where you sign the petition to eliminate fruitcake. Above all, remember, PIGS are the new dolphins.

Foxtel Mobile Recorder

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Got a Foxtel iQ box? Got a phone on the 3G network? Then you’re today’s LUCKY WINNER. The latest in remote convenience is the Foxtel Mobile Record application which you download to your phone so you can remotely activate your PVR (Prosthetic Valve Replacement).

There are now NO EXCUSES for ever missing another favourite programme.

And if you don’t have an iQ box you can use the service to ping you by SMS 15 minutes before the show starts. In Perth that’s time enough to make your excuses and drive home.

Drowning in email

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Good suggestions from Morgan McLintic on strategies for managing email overload. Another cut, with more detail, at Inbox Zero. Skip the slide show, it’s too short and the video is slow and painful.

Pecha Kucha

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Imagine limiting Powerpoint presentations to 6 minutes. 20 seconds for each slide… is that a GREAT IDEA or WHAT? These guys are LOVING it!

Anyway, that’s what Pecha Kucha is about…

Media Tonic recently attended the Perth event and saw some great (short) presentations by architects, designers, artists and photographers, eg. Toby Gibson, who showed photos like the one above, taken while covering elections in Afghanistan and Timor.

Next Pecha Kucha’s in Feb.

Year’s best ad

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

The inaugural 2007 Media Tonic ‘We Would Have Done This If We Had The Budget And If We Had Thought Of It’ Award goes to the Halo 3 promotional ad, Believe.

Apart from exceptional production values, it is notable for being advertising’s first poignant inter-species war commentary. The documentary on the making of the diorama will be filmed in 2610 with an understated British narration. But here is a sneak preview.

Community, kids, engagement, sponsorship

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

For the first time in 123 years, the WAFL is opening up its competition to a naming rights sponsor. Around 100,000 players and 45,000 volunteers spread around the state, access to school and community programmes, media coverage valued conservatively at $1.3M per annum … and a participation rate that is up 17.5% on the previous year.

The sponsor has an opportunity to engage the whole football community at a grass roots level and generate substantial goodwill and publicity. It’s a three year contract; you’ll need to register your interest with us by December 20th.

Here is a very brief Powerpoint Presentation which will load very slowly and gently into your computer.

High definition, low complexity

Patrick Delaney of Foxtel needs a wide format business card. His title is Executive Director of Content, Product and Delivery Innovation. Patrick’s started blogging about HD and there IS a comments section. He’s promising a layman’s explanation of HD technology and iQHD in particular so if you know any laymen, send them here.

And of course, we have local laymen should you wish to go layman-to-layman.

Everybody. Get on the floor.

Cute creative executions on the floor in Woolworths… Research from TorchMedia on campaigns by Riva and Handy Andy shows improvements in off-take of up to 16%. Other Retail Out-of-Home advertisers include Vodafone, Unilever, Nestle and Hutchison 3.

Ask Mark to do the CPM sums for you. Otherwise he just sits in his office playing games on the Internets. (08) 9388 7844.
