Glass & Orbit

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Orbit Health and Fitness Solutions have come to the sponsorship party and engaged Eagles captain Darren Glass as a brand ambassador. It’s a two year deal. Coincidentally, Darren had been into Orbit a couple of weeks before the sponsorship was proposed and spent some of the heard-earned.

Darren is managed by our partners at IMG and Media Tonic brokered the deal with Peter Hodgson, Orbit’s Managing Director. The company are the leading supplier of fitness equipment in the WA market, with eight showrooms, a wholesale division and an in-house service division with very impressive physiques.

Measuring gets sexy

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

The subscription TV industry has announced a new audience measurement system which increases sample size by a factor of eight (up to 10,000 peeps) and will allow measurement of time shifted viewing. So we’ll be able to measure viewing of programs you haven’t even watched yet.

The system will pull data from set-top boxes and include accurate measurement of interactive advertising campaigns. In the words of Foxtel CEO Kim Williams, “every single press of any button on the remote control” will be recorded, allowing for tremendously detailed insight into audience behaviour.

The new measurement system is unnamed at present and we at Media Tonic feel this is a job for the West Australian ad industry so we are awarding a bottle of warm climate shiraz to the best suggestion. No, two bottles! Email your ideas to mtreasure@mediatonic.com.au. Prize announced in the April newsletter.

hulu, the NBC/News Ltd video streaming site is in private beta. No user content. All full length programs and movies. Like YouTube, all content is capable of being embedded in any web page. In-laid ads and banners, some traditional ads but at a low level of intrusion thus far. Although it’s in beta, you can see some Hulu content as an AOL TV channel. Source: Wired Magazine.

Yes, it’s a blog dedicated to photoshopping bloopers. Our favourite:

Collaborative copywriting

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

This Hahn ad, featured on a Best Ads website (why?) has one line of copy and a tag line. Three copywriters are listed on the credits. Take the rest of the day off boys…

BMF, who produced the ad, have also created a clever parody of Flash-animation web sites.
